Creative Superpowers

There is no teacher in this space, only a facilitator (if in a school this is the ‘teacher’). It’s about self- and peer-to-peer learning, so it’s important to resist stepping in and wanting to show how it’s done or ‘help’.

True learning happens when we value curiosity, investigation, experimentation, research and reflection, all of which are key features in making.

I believe there are three things our brain needs in order to produce ideas: 1) a baseline level of knowledge about a subject or project; 2) sleep, so our brain can process new information and concepts into ideas; and 3) time and space for quiet reflection after we get up, so we can reduce the load on our brain to allow it to communicate those ideas to our conscious mind.

To create something new, you must get rid of the old.

I think copywriters can contribute to design, creative directors to film editing and designers to a musical soundtrack. Truly gifted creators are open to new ideas, wherever they come from, and use those ideas to create something even better.

With a more conventional approach, the copywriter and art director are the only kids in the sand-box.

you want to set your sights higher, initiate change and impress with truly outstanding work, you should limit your information intake.

These techniques can unblock your creative impasse. They can inspire fresh thinking and help you to unlearn old solutions that are no longer useful. They can encourage you to see the right idea among the wrong ones, and help you find your creative flow.
