The fiftieth Anniversary Edition of the groundbreaking international bestseller that has shown millions of readers how to achieve rich, productive lives by developing their hidden capacities for love

Most people are unable to love on the only level that truly matters: love that is compounded of maturity, self-knowledge, and courage. As with every art, love demands practice and concentration, as well as genuine insight and understanding.

Review«Erich Fromm is both a psychologist of penetration and a writer of ability. His book is one of dignity and candor, of practicality and precision.»—"Chicago Tribune"Every line is packed with common sense, compassion, and realism."—"Fortune

    💤Trrrrrråååkig!

Even Fromm's ideas are very similar with mine ones this book didn't left me any sense of completeness of these ideas. I would prefer to read any literature of gestalt therapy and some stories of patients and it works for me better than Fromm's reflections because they are full of pain, emotions, feelings and pure examples.

just as it is important to avoid trivial conversation, it is important to avoid bad company. By bad company I do not refer only to people who are vicious and destructive; one should avoid their company because their orbit is poisonous and depressing. I mean also the company of zombies, of people whose soul is dead, although their body is alive; of people whose thoughts and conversation are trivial; who chatter instead of talk, and who assert cliche opinions instead of thinking.

The awareness of human separation, without reunion by love—is the source of shame. It is at the same time the source of guilt and anxiety.

To love somebody is not just a strong feeling—it is a decision, it is a judgment, it is a promise.
