She lost everything. She came to disappear. Summer had other plans.

At forty-seven, acclaimed New York chef Eva Hamilton watches her marriage, career, and carefully planned future fall apart in a single night. With nowhere else to go, she leaves the restaurant she spent twenty years building and accepts a temporary job in Sunset Cove, a small coastal town she’s never visited.

The Sea Pine Inn is beautiful, weathered, and barely surviving. Its café hasn’t changed in decades, and if it can’t turn a profit by Labor Day, owner Margot Montgomery may be forced to sell it to developers.

Eva has four months to revive the failing kitchen and prove the inn still has a future. But winning over a close-knit town isn’t easy, especially when she’s still carrying the pain of everything she left behind.

As Eva brings fresh food and new life to the café, she begins to find friendship, purpose, and a community that welcomes her as one of its own.

And then there is Lucas Reed, the contractor restoring the inn, who keeps his distance but sees more than he should. He is steady, patient, safe in a way that should make everything easier. Except it doesn’t. Because trusting him means risking the one thing she can't afford to lose again—herself. He doesn't ask for her story, but he doesn't look away from it either. And the more time they spend working around each other, the harder it becomes to pretend that what is building between them is simple.

Eva came to Sunset Cove planning to stay for one summer. But saving the Sea Pine may mean risking her heart on a life she never expected to find.
