There are many simple ways that you can add Hygge into your life. It isn’t a physical state that is easy to point out. It is a feeling, a state of mind that you strive to reach because you feel good and happy when you are able to get there. The Danish people have perfected this mental state of mind, and the Danish people are actually considered the happiest people in the world, according to actual surveys and studies.

So where did the ideas of Hygge come from? There were some traces of Hygge that started showing up in Denmark during the 19th century, but this concept started to really grow during the 20th century. During this time, Denmark was taken over and stripped of much of their land and possessions. Instead of lamenting their condition and looking for revenge, the Danish people turned inward for their self-worth. They started to see the benefit of keeping things simple, rather than looking for land and possessions that would hopefully make them feel happy. They were actually one of the first countries to celebrate their smallness and appreciate their inner landscape.

Until you start to implement Hygge into your own life, it is a hard topic to understand. Hygge is an idea that is all about warmth and about having kinship and love with your family, friends, coworkers, and other people around you. It is about being happy with the things you have in your life because while you don’t have everything, you have good food, a home, people you love, and so much more.

Hygge can benefit you no matter what you need to get done during the day, your occupation, or where you live. It is perfect because it allows you to take care of yourself by staying calm and connected in social situations and even allows you to have personal time for yourself to recharge.
