Liad Shoham

Liad Shoham is an Israeli attorney and writer, often regarded as Israel's top thriller author often compared to John Grisham. One of his notable books, Asylum City (2012), was made into a TV series.

Liad Shoham was born in 1971 in Givatayim, Israel. During childhood, he lived in Paris due to his father's work, who served in the Intelligence Corps.
Shoham holds an LLB from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and an LLM in International Commercial Law from the London School of Economics.

Since joining the Israeli Bar Association in 1997, Shoham has balanced his legal career, specializing in administrative and commercial law with writing.

Following his return from London, Shoham began writing after living in Tel Aviv with his wife and two children. His initial submissions were rejected until Kinneret published them. Shoham has authored nine thrillers, two children's books, and a young adult trilogy, all becoming bestsellers in Israel.

Shoham's writing career took a significant turn towards thrillers following a suggestion from his editor, Dov Alfon. His works, praised for their critical acclaim and commercial success in Israel, explore various aspects of Israeli life, law, and societal issues.

Shoham's earlier works, including London in a Pita (2001) and Life on Diagonal (2002), delve into cultural and social observations. In contrast, his foray into biblical stories in God's Gang (2005) showcases his versatility and humor. His legal thrillers, such as Line Up (2011) and Asylum City (2015), reflect his deep understanding of the legal landscape and human psychology. They earned him critical acclaim and a loyal readership in Israel and internationally.

His most recent work, Key Witness (2024), introduces readers to Judge Jonathan Barnea, whose life spirals into chaos following a moment of kindness that results in his arrest. The novel explores themes of justice, error, and the complexities of the legal system.
