Dan Abnett

Dan Abnett is an English prolific writer of comics and novels. He is best known for his work in the Warhammer universe. His novels for Games Workshop's Black Library, set in the Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40,000 universes, have sold over two million copies.

Dan Abnett was born in Rochdale, Lancashire. He studied English at St Edmund Hall, Oxford.

Abnett's writing career spans several decades and genres. He has contributed significantly to the 2000 AD comic series, creating Sinister Dexter and other stories. His Marvel Comics work includes Guardians of the Galaxy and various X-Men titles. For DC Comics, Abnett is noted for his relaunch of Legion of Super-Heroes. In 2009, Abnett expanded into original fiction with Angry Robot books.

Abnett's creations cover Marvel UK, DC Comics, and Dark Horse Comics. He has also worked for smaller publishers. Frequent collaborators include Andy Lanning and Ian Edginton.

His Warhammer novels and Warhammer 40,000 contributions are numerous. The Gaunt's Ghosts series and the Eisenhorn and Ravenor trilogies are particularly popular. His work in the Horus Heresy series is well-regarded.

Abnett has also ventured into the Doctor Who universe, writing for audio dramas and the Torchwood novel Border Princes.

Throughout the 2000s and 2010s, Abnett continued to contribute to 2000 AD, DC Comics, and Marvel. His work spans from Judge Dredd to Aquaman and Titans for DC's Rebirth.

His original novels include Triumff: Her Majesty's Hero (2010) and Embedded (2011).
