Timbaland

Timothy Zachery Mosley, known as Timbaland, is an American record producer, singer-songwriter, and rapper. In The Emperor of Sound, he offers fans an unprecedented look into his life and work.

Timbaland was born in Norfolk, Virginia. He is celebrated for his innovative production work and unique rhythmic style. Timbaland's influence extends beyond the U.S., impacting UK garage and rave culture.

His mainstream breakthrough came with Aaliyah's album One in a Million (1996) and Ginuwine's Ginuwine...the Bachelor"(1996). Timbaland's style, a blend of hip-hop and R&B, became influential in the late 1990s. He produced for high-profile artists like Jay-Z, Nas, and The LOX.

In 2007, Timbaland's single "Give It To Me" topped the Billboard Hot 100. His album "Shock Value" spawned hits like "The Way I Are" and "Apologize." "Shock Value II" (2009) featured "Carry Out" and "Say Something." His production credits include work with Michael Jackson, Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Madonna, Rihanna, Kanye West, Alicia Keys, Lil Wayne, Missy Elliott, and Björk. He received four Grammy Awards from 21 nominations.

Timbaland founded Beat Club (2001) and Mosley Music Group (2006). He mentored upcoming producers through Beat Club and co-created the Verzuz webcast series with Swizz Beatz in 2020.
